I can't believe we don't have this thread.

For Miki: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztvOoHh3b-M&feature=related

Note: The video is actually also relevant to the character.

As a person who does not listen to J-pop, can our song, you know, not be j-pop?

... of course.

I have some other themes lined up depending on which path Miki ends up on: She definitely has some crossroads before her, as an individual.

I am looking for the song for Zhelazo, but it's so hipster, Youtube hasn't heard of it.

Fits perfectly, though.

Listening to some songs I came across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WysLCx5J3CM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WysLCx5J3CM)

I think it fits the character and the setting a bit - "feeling like a prisoner, like a stranger in a lonely town" - "there's no easy way out, there's no short cut home" etc

Of course this is kept beneath the service. Masakaze is usually quite easy to get along with ^_^

Yum, I do love me some good ol' Judas Priest. :)  Good choice of music!

I don't even know the name (or band playing) of this song, but it was recommended to me by YouTube some time ago, and I thought it was rather cool. It's mostly been what I've listened to as I've shaped Yasuko in my head:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeLmRZHXQaY

When I wrote the fiction, I listened to Lux Aeternus by Clint Mantell (better known as Requiem for a Dream) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaaStXvn0LY). The beginning is especially something I could imagine as Yasuko's theme if this was a videogame or anime. ;)

They came down here where I live last year. Probably barely made one hundred people, and let me tell you that the only concert to kick Korpiklaani's ass that year was Rammstein's. In fact, up to this moment, Korpiklaani and Rammstein are up there on concert quality, far above Metallica, Guns 'N' Roses, Linkin' Park, and a whole lot of other bands we've had since then. The heart these guys put into their music just chills the blood. It may be my northern roots speaking too :P

I find the fact that you considered Metallica and Linkin Park to be 'up there' in quality a very bad sign for our future friendship.

Metallica, the old stuff, is fairly good. Of course, now it is a fail as big as a planet.

Thank you Yasuko, I really thought the lyrics are pretty appropriate for my character.

What he said. One of the classic cases of band modernization gone wrong. Meanwhile, a hunt for the Yogo's theme continues.

I vehemently disagree. Death Magnetic is excellent.

I like Metallica. I don't like most of the new stuff, but some is okay. I'm just saying that Korpiklaani's concert had much more heart in it. There were people crying (that was a bit disturbing, but those were fans that never thought to see them live). They didn't use any pyrotechnics, but they didn't need them. And well, Rammstein simply gives the best shows out there. Every song is a play of its own.

Rammstein are just *incredible* performers. Their stage-show is something that must be seen once in your lifetime.

I for one agree that old Metallica is the best Metallica. I haven't touched them since the horror that was St.Anger. *shudders*  One of my favorites from them is the Symphony-album, but I have always been a fan of combining metal with traditional instruments.

Also, I dedicate this to our Yogo, the little Judas he is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wagn8Wrmzuc&ob=av2e). ;)

*Disagrees with your disagreement.* ^.^;;  I admit that this is better than St.Anger, but I still think that Black Album / ...And Justice for all are superior.

St. Anger is very raw and primal, with riffs dirtier than thrash consensus. It's not my favourite, but some parts of it are decent.

The ones you pointed out are actually middle productions, with Newsted. They are in the softest, country-like feel Metallica has produced. If you compare the most recent Death Magnetic to what Metallica recorded with Burton back in old days, it shows correspondence.

My personal favourite is the Ride the Lighting-Master of Puppets phase, but I dig many later pieces too.

Only thing I liked of deathmetalic was all nightmare long. The problem with most metallica stuff is that it sounds the same.

A problem I feel that Metallica often have had is lyric-writing.

Apart from some master-pieces (like Master of Puppets to name one of their best songs all over), many of their lyrics, imho, seem to lack a coherent rythm and flow, which often makes it sound a bit forced, stressed, or just clumsy.

Of course, I completely understand that people like Metallica. I liked them myself when I first discovered metal, but I feel I've grown out of it.

I'll just partially spoof the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song for Asahi.

Now, this is a story all about how
My life got flipped-turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute
Just sit right there
I'll tell you how I became an Imperial Legionnaire

In Dragon lands born and raised
On the mountainside was where I spent most of my days
Chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool
And all staring in my reflective pool

I might finish it... Later?
