Title: Yojimbos and Companies Post by: Evil Bob on October 03, 2011, 10:46:16 AM There has been some confusion on Yojimbos and Shugenja and Bushi in each other's company. I would like to make some clarifications.
Each company has a main function. Anyone can be a part of that company as long as they can fullfill that company's function in a battle. South Company is your standard line and fight soldiers. You charge forward and hit the enemy head on. You are involved in charges, battle field duels, and maneuvers to help turn the tide of battle. You may be a part of any class or school, but your skills must be geared toward doing just this. West company is a scout, harry and intelligence company. You should have good mobility, be able to hunt, investigate or sneak. Ranged attack or light cavalry can also be included here. You may be a part of any class or school, but your skills must be geared toward doing just this. East company is the magical support company. You have to be able to cast spells and take part in rituals. Pretty much a shugenja only club. North company is the courtier company. It advises the command, provides materials to use in war, and acts as the army's internal affairs. You may be a part of any class or school, but your skills must be geared toward doing just this. Yojimbo are not part of this structure. In war the East and North company are in the back and it's South Company's job to make sure the enemy never gets to them. West Company is to stop any assassins from sneaking through. If members of East and North company will be in direct contact with the enemy they may be assigned honor guard (sometimes they eschew them, especially if they want to enemy to perceive them a certain way. When the army is not in service in the winter, many warriors, shugenja, ect. go home to be with family or go to Winter Courts where they will receive professional yojimbo from their clans or from the imperials if needed. Your legion never made it back to Toshi Ronbo, so there is no structure set up to establish permanent yojimbos. If players feel this needs to happen, it can be established during the game using IC methods, but is not a necessary part of this game. I hope this clears thing up a bit, but if you have more queries feel free to ask. Thanks! What about Chui and the Imperial Commander though? Wouldn't they all have a handful of guards at all times or at least one dedicated yojimbo? Title: Re: Yojimbos and Companies Post by: Hlaoroo on October 03, 2011, 05:07:23 PM If they want em, they'll order you all to do it. Have fun.
Title: Re: Yojimbos and Companies Post by: Evil Bob on October 03, 2011, 05:07:48 PM Chui now have this power:
Honor Guard: When in town, on the road or at the temple the Chui may have 2 rank 1 NPCs for an honor guard. When in more dangerous settings the Chui will have to get PCs to protect him. http://evilbob.fallenash.com/index.php?topic=311.0 Also that above ^ Title: Re: Yojimbos and Companies Post by: Shinjo Shu on October 03, 2011, 05:50:55 PM In addition to my other duties, I plan to act as yojimbo for my company.

Thank you for the clarification! Title: Re: Yojimbos and Companies Post by: Toku Shokami on October 03, 2011, 07:27:22 PM Interesting. The clarification is most welcome. Now I just have to think if I'll use that power or not.
