While the other thread is for people to get into the different squads of the Byakko company, I will use this thread to provide players with general information about the company. The duties of the different squads will be posted in clear here, as well as any rules their respective officers would like to employ. My general rules for both squads will be here as well. Any flavor you guys want to put in is welcome, and I'll be updating this first post as regularly as I can.

The tiger is for bad luck, or so the saying goes. The men of the Byakko company have taken up the tiger as their banner, for their presence on the battlefield heralds certain misfortune to the enemy of the Emerald Throne. The company, usually composed of seven squads, has been reduced to its minimum due to the scarce use for its cavalry in the mountainous terrain of the Dragon lands. Instead, two very specialized squads have been selected to accompany the legion on this assignment. Their duties are vital to the operation of the whole legion, and thus discipline and expertise are both of utmost importance. Seppun Shin, the lieutenant in charge of you, is a man inspired by the tales of the reform that the Toturi dynasty brought to the Legions. He shall not tolerate failure, and will do all that is in his power to make sure each and every one of you faces the challenges fate puts on your paths with dignity and honor, and prevails despite any odds. Perhaps he is too old for his rank, but despite his age Shin prefers to join the fight whenever he is able, and higher positions would never allow him such a courtesy.

Above is the crest of the Byakko company, a fierce tiger facing the right hand of your opponent to snatch the blade out of his hand. Bear it proudly, for if it wasn't for our talons and claws, many a life would be lost to that blade.

Our motto is "Victory is preserved for those who are willing to pay its price!" for we know that without our scouts, our messengers and our unconventional tactics, war will claim many more lives and might as well leave the Empire we fight for in ruins. We may not receive the glory of those who fight in the front lines, yet we shall hold our posts and do our duty so that the light of the Divine Empress prevails.

Each squad may have its own crest and motto besides these, and that is something you will have to decide for yourself.

This is a list of orders every officer has from Shin, now that the company is not on active duty. It is followed by the duties of each squad, plus orders specific to that squad.

  • Every officer is responsible for drilling his own squad, but daily drilling is obligatory, under any system the officer prefers. At least part of the squad shall be on duty at any given time, so a form of rotation is in order. The exact nature, be it foot, weapon or otherwise, is left for the officer to decide on a daily basis.
  • Every fourth day the lieutenant shall be present for a squad foot and weapons drill. There is a two day difference between one squad and the other, so that they do not drill on the same day.
  • Every officer is responsible for the discipline in his own squad. Overall guidelines will be presented, but details and enforcement are left for the officers unless there is a need for direct intervention from the lieutenant.
    • Disorderly conduct such as insulting and picking up fights without the intention to kill or seriously harm another individual shall not be tolerated. Punishment for such varies from an hour sitting on sharp rocks to twenty sticks on the back.
    • Disobeying or questioning the orders of a superior officer in any way is a grave offense, and shall be punishable by anything from thirty sticks on the back to death.
    • Abuse of the military resources of the Legion, such as theft and vandalism shall be payed for by either immediate restitution of the damaged items or a deduction from the soldier's stipend, as the best judgment of the Legion's quartermaster commands. Additional punishment may vary from an hour on sharp rocks to ten sticks on the hands.
    • Should the lieutenant become aware of any of these rules of conduct being broken through any source other than the offender's commanding officer, the said officer shall share the punishment either partially or completely, as decided by the lieutenant.

Akodo Inuichi and the Bayako Second Squad

"Deep recon, the eyes of the legion. Without their guidance, this legion would never be the marching force that it is."- a comment by the senior command staff.

-Gunso Akodo Inuichi-
Despite his young age, Akodo Inuichi has gained and held this title for several years. Through those years, he has earned a reputation has firm yet never tyrannical. Many a tale is told of his early training regimens but never a foul word about the man. Every scout in his company knows this. "Gunso Akodo-sama is a fierce man and will drive me hard, but he will gladly shed his blood for each and everyone of us."

Requested Daily Drilling Time Slot: Early Morning
- Akodo Inuichi believes that if a scout can train in the raw situation of the early morning that he will be able to arrive at a point where no condition will slow him.
