Just like other chat programs... but it only works for windows. If you use Mac you'll have to get Adium. Also I like meebo for work. It's a browser based chat. Signing up for an account is as easy as google searching Google Chat.

Meebo is good. It has an android app that works well.
You can use Pidgin as well.

Just letting you know, still working on the book to make my character, got blank character sheet and signed up for IC. Don't know what Fusaki looks like yet though.
