Title: An Actual OOC Thread
Post by: Akodo Inuichi on September 20, 2011, 03:25:10 PM
Just noticed we don't have one of theses. Anyhow I will start this off with my lament of how I just finished imho a very nice piece of art in my large sketch book..... I have no way of scanning and uploading it.  :(

Take a picture of it.  Use your digital camera OR use your cell phone OR use your computer's camera and take a screen shot or make it a video and upload it to Youtube.

<--- I drew this little guy myself.

I lament that my l5r book is 1200 miles away and so making a Character at work is nigh impossible.

And it's like I have time to type. I get about 4 sentences a day finished on my backstory.

Seeing most of the threads, and having fault in it, I think all of the threads count as OOC. OOC in OOC. OOCeption.

I AM SO THERE MIKI!

*Puts on daft fake rapper voice*

OOOOOOO-CCCCC. Soooo OOOOoooOOoo CCCCCCC

It's all double O-C, rocking the PbP,
Rap attack, play it back,
We're starting in October, still lacking an Ikoma,
In lands of the Dragon, jump on the band wagon,
Yea-uuuuh, uhhh uhhhhh

We are in the Legion, now stuck in this region,
Ghosts and things, them 5 rings,
Gotta wait for Winter's end, time to all make a best friend,
Make them the next taisa, nothing gonna stop ya.
Yea-uuuh, uhhh uhhh

*Deep voice* But this thread, this thread, this thread, this ****ing sweet thread,
It's soooo OOOOO P, all OOOO OOOO CCCyaaaa,
Da plot don't matter here, nu-uh, so have nooo feaaarrr-uhhhh,
Chit chat, hang, sit back - hell, gobble gobble,
In an out of character place, just leave with a smile on YO FACE!

*Smaller, talking voice that starts fading out* That's O-O-C baby, uhh
Shout out to Bob, Miki and the Toku,
Make a post and do what you want to!

Is that M-Kaze? Oh my goodness gracious!
My company is north and my charge is audacious.
Is that your tactics, n00b? Man, that ish is outrageous!
Push you back to your hell, hope your defeat is gracious.
Here's a tip, n00b, and a spear to go with it:
Pitiful, adding to my killing spree.
Are we all devils, gods or straight fucked up?
It's I-Legion in the house, n00b, just go AFK.

Kajimori is the name of the forest that fills most of the valley.  Most of the trees in the forest lose their leaves in the fall so are bear in the winter time.

That's a one hell of a forest. i wonder if the trees wear kimono and practise iaijutsu as well?

I have that pesky background and the story to finish... but I'm as good as dead until I'm done with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The fact that the game tells you "solve the missions any way you like" and then puts you in a small empty room with a two and a half meters tall marine as a boss even though you've spent all your points on stealth and computer skills might play against me on that one though >_>

Btw Ousei, are you a gunso-gunso or a gunso->chui contender?

I have no points for that, though advantage change could change that. Will have to see.  Afraid that chuui are too important, that if RL goes bollocks, I'd screw the game.

Title: Re: An Actual OOC Thread
Post by: Soshi Karoshi on September 23, 2011, 02:45:55 AM
The RL no oni may be an issue, but xps by my understanding are not. You have to pay for gunso, declare the willingness to be chui, and if there are no contenders or opposition, you get the post.

I plan on making one anyway so it's no big deal. Just need to buy a new rubber

National November Writing Month.  Although it's pretty much international now.  50k novella in 30 days. 1667 words a day average.  No editting.  Depending on your region you may have challenges to include in it as well.

We can be popular with the npcs of squad 2 Miki! I think my choice of a larger font size and the general change of writing with one put people off of mine. You try doing something different and people don't like it. I guess that is why there is pop and all the other genres of music... and why pop sells more than the rest combined. Maybe we should have both done something more generic?

A wail cut through the cool night air, this was the day of his birth, Akodo Inuichi, wolf's blood. That cry, strong and seeking was what gave Inuichi his childhood name of pup and later would be a deciding factor in the choosing of his name. A long wail, calling out and feeling the world it entered. Meeting and reacting to its surroundings and returning with a knowledge that could only be passed on through such an interaction. Oh the cry of that wolf.

IC, will so refer to him as 'mutt'.  Not to his face, of course.

To enter do the following:
- Make a thread in this forum.
- Fill it with a short story about 1,000 words (I won't be counting so you can fudge, but abuse will be disqualified)
- Make sure your character is the central figure of the story and happens before the game starts

~,1000 words.  It's not a limit, but yeah...

I'm just going to go on the record and say that I won't re-read fictions. Once I have given an opinion, it's final. I don't like that changes (barring fixing typos) are continually added after comments from readers, since that means the previous comments given are either void, or the story have been changed to suit what people wanted to see in it. To me, it feels like a form of cheating.

So, in short, no I won't read changed stories.

I should get around to doing a office description as well as reading and commenting on the other stories. I am hoping at least something on mine but probably wont happen.

Commented on yours, Yosai.

I feel like it is better from the comments; I use it as criticism to correct and improve it; like anything I write.

Not for cheating, in my mind.

Agreeing here - until the deadline, nothing is final. If people want to correct and improve, let them

People are of course entitled to their own opinion. It's just my opinion, as an artist, to not present a work, and then change it after recieving criticism. I feel it's better to accept the criticism, leave the work as it is to remind of what we have evolved from when we improve on the next step. :)

Also, since the fictions are judged upon the comments it recieves, again, I feel its better to just leave it as it is, so it doesn't render previous comments null.

Okay, so I don't have a set character in mind as yet. This is because I usually see games limited to number of characters per clan, and so I base my character concept partly on which clan still isn't filled. Since that doesn't apply here, that leaves me wondering what spots still need to be filled. So, is there any sort of character 'lack' at all? For example, does the game already have enough courtier/shugenja? Are there any other legion roles that still don't have PC representation? Or is this more of a 'make a character now, find a squad to be welcomed to later' deal?

Currently, I'm considering a Tamori (this account name is admittedly a placeholder), but a) there's a fair bit of Dragon representation already and b) I'm not aware of how likely it is that this Legion would have accepted a Tamori in Suzaku.

If you're looking to fill lacking roles, shugenja and true ninja are what we lack.  We have, only a handful of shugenja and of those we have healing and information types, no boom boom types.  While we have some definate scouts we do not have any Goju or Shinobi.

Heavy Armor: 40 koku
Finger of Jade: 1 koku
Having a shugenja who can hurl jade-infused boulders at that oni?  Priceless.

If you want to join Suzaku Company as a shugenja you would be welcome to. Just remember that you have to be able to fight on the front lines - so be a yamabushi. Be able to fight with a weapon as well as you can with spells. You would then be a very welcome addition to the company. Can I suggest Squad 2? We have tea!

Impervious to the chants of the priests. The use of the shugenja is optimal in non-combat situations as healing or attending to the religious need of the squads.

I remember how the Isawa chanted their prowess in war thanks to their shugenja. I also remember the sound of their eyes widening when I assaulted their flank. Brief sound though. Arrows make chanting a bit hard.

Power without measure leads to unnecessary destruction. They kill the fly with the flamethrower. That is their weakness.

I don't recall the yamabushi ever losing in battle... we only deploy them carefully afterall.

I do agree that the Shiba could be flanked though. The Lion have cavalry and therefore horse archers as well as normal archers. Spells do not outrange arrows. Lion can just shoot at them and outmanourve them while continuing to shoot them. That is if the Lion commander is smart. Advancing on Phoenix is silly. Phoenix rarely go to war and when they do they are serious and will burninate you if you get close...

I'm straight. Is that bad? ???

I don't have any problems with my spinal cord either. ^.^

Clearly we are not meaning the same thing.  :-\

Oh, I'm just mocking the use of word straight to define heterosexuality. It is an ethically laden term, to which opposition would be curved, astray or something less positive else. I think other romantic options are straight no less in the sense of being good an proper, but this is often denied to them.

In addition, I too am definitely heterosexual in my RL choices but I fail to see how it'd preclude my fictional preferences and explorations.

I was mostly saying Miki was hetero; but I'm hetero RL too...

Mac and Cheese Pie.  It's exactly what it sounds like, but it also has a bacon lattice on top instead of a top pie crust.

Though various curse words may make in slightly NSFW
